Before I dive into this post, I will give you a little backstory about my own graduation portrait. I went to Cobequid Education Centre in Truro, Nova Scotia. My high school was big, a bit impersonal and had a lot of graduates. The photographer snapped a few photos and sent us on our way. And you know what? It was a “technically” good photo. Good lighting, good posing. In fact, it was deemed good enough to be enlarged and prominently displayed in the local photographer’s storefront window (much to my horror!). However, that picture never resonated with me because it didn’t capture who I was at that stage in my life.

Namely, a band geek.
