This past weekend Aiden and I met up with one of my long time clients, the Lyseng family. This was the fourth time that I have had the opportunity to photograph their family. We asked them if they would be up for a walk in the park to a new location for their family photos this year. As always, they were up for our proposed adventure and we are so happy with how the images turned out.
I first met Krisanne from a facebook post that I made many years ago when I was starting my homeschool journey with my young kids. I was reaching out looking for community as a homeschool mom, and also for my kids. This lovely woman responded to my post and invited me to meet up with her and her children. From the first time I met them I could see the priority that both she and her husband have placed on their family. They have raised some of the kindest kids that I have met, and I was also so impressed that they all took responsibility for running their home. I remember her kids who were not much older than mine making snacks and lunch for my kids.
It has been so nice to watch these young people grow up, with 4 out of 7 of them already graduating from high school. It has been a privilege to continue to get to document these important milestones for them every few years. As a family, they have looked back on these sessions as something fun that they have done together. I love that the strength of their relationships is evident in all of these photos. They are a joy to work with and we look forward to the next session in a few years.

Knowing that this family has a sense of adventure, we asked them if we could try some new set ups for shots. One in particular that we wanted to capture was an image of mom and dad with their kids moving around them. Aiden used a tripod to steady the shot, and then left the shutter open a bit longer than normal so he could create motion blur as they moved around.
We then asked the kids if they wanted to end their session with a water fight to which they all enthusiastically said yes. This may have been the last hot day in Calgary for this season and we took full advantage.
Thank you Lyseng family for letting us continue to tell your story. Best of luck to Keszia as she heads overseas for school this fall. Congratulations on your graduation. We still have a few spots left for October for family photos sessions. If you are interested in chatting with us or booking a session please use the contact form on our website.
