Fall Recap 2024: Session 1 Ansari family photos

When I look at today’s date—November 8th—I’m honestly surprised how quickly fall has flown by. It feels like just yesterday I was sitting on my back deck in shorts and a tank top, creating ads for fall family photo sessions here in Calgary.

At Laura Perron Photography, we’ve been deep into busy season, and blogging has taken a back seat. Today, I’m excited to launch a new Fall 2024 Recap blog series, showcasing some of the beautiful family and branding photoshoots we’ve been honored to capture this season. Let’s begin with Session 1: Ansari Family Fall Photoshoot in Calgary.

Reconnecting

I truly love reconnecting with former clients. While I was away in Hawaii celebrating my 20th anniversary with Denis in October, I got a text from a former client: “Hey! Remember us?”

Two years ago, the Ansari family hired me to take branding photos for their medical practice. Since then, they relocated to Southern California. They were visiting Calgary for Thanksgiving weekend and wondered if I could fit them in. Thankfully, I had built some buffer into my schedule and was able to squeeze them in once I was back.

Meaningful location

The Ansaris wanted to capture family photos with the beautiful fall colours they’ve been missing since their move. Thanks to a warmer-than-usual fall, the leaves lasted longer this year. Returning from Hawaii, I was pleasantly surprised to see Calgary’s autumn hues at their peak.

We considered several locations, but they chose a park just a block away from their old home — a place filled with special memories of family time spent playing, biking, and exploring. The park also featured stunning Aspen trees showing their full range of fall colours.

Working with them again was an absolute joy. This session included the children’s grandparents and their beloved uncle. It’s heartwarming to witness how clients evolve, hear their stories, and see how our journeys intertwine. Their move to California, filled with new milestones, made them miss the distinct change of seasons Calgary offers—especially the beauty of fall.

Capturing Joy and Connection

The Ansari family wanted photos that reminded them of their children’s joyful, free-spirited days in that park. Laughter and genuine moments flowed naturally throughout the shoot. Their authentic warmth and connection created timeless images celebrating transitions, family bonds, and coming home.

For me, this session was a beautiful reminder of why I love photography: it’s about capturing stories, building relationships, and preserving memories across time and distance.
