A few weeks ago, Aiden and I kicked off our 2025 grad season with Ben’s session at the Indus Rec Centre, just southeast of Calgary. Ben is a lifelong hockey player and goalie, so showcasing that part of his story was a must. We want to give special mention to Ben’s mom for scoring us private ice time for this shoot — any hockey parent knows that’s no small feat during playoffs!
To capture the intensity it takes to stop a puck flying at you, we darkened the arena in-camera and added a pop of flash for drama. Ben was all in—skating, spraying ice, and totally nailing the vibe. After the rink, we found a great brick wall for some clean portraits and wrapped up the shoot on a wooden bridge that doubled as a runway for his best grad strut.
Ben, you were a natural in front of the our camera — we still can’t believe you’ve never modeled before. Thanks for making it so easy (and so fun)!
3 Tips to Personalize Your Grad Photos:
- Incorporate Your Passion or Hobby
Whether it’s sports, music, or something else that defines you, including elements that represent your passions adds that personal touch to your session. For Ben, we showcased his love for hockey by shooting on the rink with his goalie gear—find a location or props that visually show what makes you you. - Choose a Meaningful Location
Pick a spot that holds special memories—maybe it’s your high school, a park, or a place where you’ve spent significant time. A personal location adds context to your photos, making them even more memorable. - Dress to Reflect Your Personality
Bring a mix of outfits, from casual to formal, that reflect different sides of you. Whether it’s your team jersey, a classic grad look, or something uniquely you, your wardrobe can help showcase your individuality and style.
Ben, we are excited about what’s in store for you this coming year. Thank you for allowing us to create this collection of images as part of your grad celebration.
