A few weeks ago, Aiden and I had the opportunity to photograph a neighbourhood family in one of our favorite locations. There was a pleasant break in our never ending winter weather and we took the opportunity to head out for a family photo session in Griffith Woods Park, Calgary. It was a delight to get to know this new to Discovery family. We learned all about the places they have lived and what brought them to our wonderful city of Calgary.
In the last few months I have started using questionnaires in my prep for getting to know my clients. It helps me find out about their families, and also what they hope to achieve in their sessions. I so appreciated the time that this family took to fill out their form. They gave me details and insights into their family and when we showed up to photograph we really felt like we knew them already. I am loving the use of questionnaires in my work flow for this very reason.
Aiden played the role of second and behind the scenes shooter and once again captured one of the best photos of the session. Naomi is a beautiful musician and also graduating high school. We wanted to get a few pictures that encapsulated and celebrated these two things. I have never had the privilege of having live music while photographing. It is one of my favorite experience that I have ever had as a photographer. As a musician, listening and watching someone else skillfully play their instrument is amazing! I think I might make this a requirement for all photo sessions moving forward. 😋 JK!
