Baby Isaac

An at home newborn photography session

Is there anything better than a newborn baby? Sigh… A few weeks ago I got to visit Baby Isaac and his lovely mom and dad in their home for their at home newborn photography session. I arrived midmorning just as he was having a feed and spent some time looking around their house to see what the light was doing in different locations. I packed a few different lighting options with me and decided to set up my Elinchrom strobe in their southeast facing living room to add some fill. The room had this great moody vibe that fit so well with their oversized comfy couches. I just wanted to add a touch of light to beautifully capture their faces, and it worked perfectly.

Upstairs in the the nursery the room was filled with soft northwest facing light. This little guys crib worked as the perfect staging area for some close up shots. He was so sleepy that he held his little scrunched up poses for several minutes while I snapped away. Mom and dad had a beautiful homemade blanket and coordinating wrap that worked so nicely in the photos. I love using personal items that belong to the baby so they serve as a memory for years to come.

Next up was bath time! Baby Isaac was a champ as mom and dad worked quickly to keep him comfortable and warm. You would never know that these two are first timers at this parenting gig. It is so sweet to watch a new mom that cannot resist kissing the face of her little one. Isaac, you are one blessed boy, and I know that you have a lifetime of love heading your way.
